Making brownfield remediation more efficient.

The Challenge

As a mine operator, LEAG needs to follow regulatory standards and acquire official authorization for mining at their sites. The remediation of brownfield sites and contaminated objects are vital requirements for the issuance of all necessary permits. To meet these standards and comply with environmental laws, all information concerning remediated parcels must be documented. Additionally, constant exchange of information with the relevant mining authorities is required to do business.

The Solution

To meet these standards for their remediation operations, LEAG turned to GEONIS ALIS.

They implemented the GEONIS ALIS solution for the as-is documentation of Brown-field sites and the exploration of lignite (brown coal). They also use GEONIS ALIS for site preparations in lignite mining, as well as management of suspected brownfield sites.

The Result

GEONIS ALIS supports LEAG through all the steps of brownfield remediation, from digitization of suspected brownfield sites, all the way to thematic mapping and creation of reports which conform to regulatory requirements.
