As we begin this first week of summer, now is a great time to pause and remember those who sacrificed for this great nation. Just a few weeks ago the nation celebrated Memorial Day, then the anniversary of D-Day, Flag Day, and shortly we will observe the Fourth of July. At Mapcom Systems we are fortunate to have many employees who have served in the military and many clients that have served. During these turbulent times this period of reflection is especially important to the Mapcom Family (our employees, our clients, and our partners).
One of the ways our Mapcom Family chooses to support those who have served in our nation’s armed forces is by sponsoring an annual fund raiser Kayak for the Warriors. The ninth annual kayak and paddle board race was held Saturday, June 4, 2016. Over 150 people from across the country participated in the beach run and the kayak race. The kayak race featured a 3.2 mile route along the canals of the Town of Pine Knoll Shores, NC and Bogue sound. In 2015 over $75,000 was raised for Hope For The Warriors ®. A great aspect of Hope For The Warriors is that only 10% of contributions are used to run the organization, the rest of the funds are used to support the comprehensive programs for service members, veterans, and military families.
