We took some time to chat with Sean McClurkan from the City of Austin, Texas and our friends from Directions Magazine to learn how the City of Austin is currently using VertiGIS Studio Item Manager.
As Sean explained in the webinar (which can be viewed below), the City of Austin recently shifted their GIS server and application infrastructure to a new domain name. This change wasn’t as easy as it may sound! To successfully launch this new domain name, the City of Austin’s GIS team needed a way to update the domain name in their infrastructure. When they started making updates and testing applications, they found issues including licensing errors, incorrect JSON code, and server request errors. They tried to use ArcGIS Online Assistant to rectify these issues, however, editing domain URLs in item JSON is currently an unsupported feature in ArcGIS Online Assistant. To minimize the risk of causing more errors, they decided that VertiGIS Studio Item Manager would be the best way forward!
