The Challenge
Wiener Netze is no stranger to VertiGIS technology – they’ve been using VertiGIS Utility solutions successfully for many years. So, when they needed an additional tool for Facility Management, they knew that VertiGIS FM could be a good fit.
As the owner and landlord of several properties, and a tenant of other third-party properties, Wiener Netze needed a system for organizing all their facility data and tasks. Previously Microsoft SharePoint had been used, however, with SharePoint, workflows for organizing tasks were often built incorrectly and recorded object locations were not always spatially accurate. Wiener Netze needed a better suited solution that would help them to centralize information, standardize work processes, and offer transparency around property goals and needs.
The Solution
With VertiGIS FM, tasks requirements are now clearly defined, data is centrally stored, and property information is correctly mapped. Information about properties, contracts, infrastructure and objects are stored centrally and made available across departments. Collaboration is easier than ever thanks to improved communication, standard recording procedures, and company-wide access to up-to-date information. Land register queries can be integrated when needed to provide additional insight into property owners, legal rights, and encumbrances. To ensure the security of confidential information, access is given on a need-to-know basis using role-based authorizations.
The Result
For effective property management, workflows are often used to organize information, plan, and develop documentation. With VertiGIS FM, Wiener Netze benefits from advanced workflow functionalities that allow them to directly add new data and documents into existing workflows. Additionally, they’ve been able to seamlessly integrate their web GIS with the property databases they use, meaning that objects can be displayed and mapped more accurately. “The central platform for property-related processes improves efficiency in my team and enables shorter processing times,” says Christian Klug, head of the Geoinformation and Surveying department at Wiener Netze.
