Partnership delivers GDPR-compliant cloud hosting for critical cadastral data across DACH
VertiGIS, a global leader in spatial asset management solutions, has established a Sovereign Cloud Strategy framework with longstanding strategic partner, T-Systems, a leading European IT services provider. This supports the digital transformation of public services across DACH by enabling secure, cloud-based management of critical land and cadastral data.
Using the Open Telekom Cloud (OTC), part of Deutsche Telekom, and operated by T-Systems’ data centres in Germany, VertiGIS customers can collect, process, and share sensitive cadastral data while meeting stringent data protection regulations such as GDPR. The infrastructure complies with top-tier security standards including ISO27001, BSI baseline protection, and C5 certification, making it a trusted solution for organisations requiring full control over geospatial and infrastructure data, without compromising on the scalability and flexibility of cloud technology.
As part of the offering, VertiGIS provides access to its Land Management (LM) solution, 24/7 managed services, and release management to ensure seamless software updates and operational continuity. VertiGIS also invests in continuous training, with employees regularly certified as Open Telekom Cloud architects to ensure best-in-class service delivery.
Most recently, VertiGIS’ sovereign cloud offering has enabled the federal states of Hamburg and Bremen to modernise the operationalisation of their official basic geodata. The State Office for Geoinformation and Surveying (LGV) in Hamburg and the State Office for Geoinformation Bremen now run their cadastral services as managed cloud solutions, with VertiGIS overseeing all hosting, software, databases, and technical support. Since August 2021, the Berlin Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing (SenStadt) has been using VertiGIS’ AFIS-ALKIS-ATKIS (AAA) procedure for managing and providing information on the cadastral register in the OTC.
Dr. Sarah Tesmer, Department Head Landesamt GeoInformation Bremen, comments, “We expect to achieve a broad range of synergies through joint use. For example, by reducing country-specific requirements and successively merging IT infrastructures, we save on hardware and personnel support costs. In addition, we all benefit from sharing our experiences and knowledge, driving technological progress forward together.”
Elmar Happ, VP Land Management and Managing Director of VertiGIS, states: “VertiGIS is proud to be part of the Open Telekom Cloud circle. By combining guaranteed data sovereignty with the scalability of the cloud, we offer a flexible, future-proof platform that integrates seamlessly into digitisation projects and federal architecture models. The web-based provision of official basic geodata is a key driver of enhanced data-driven decision-making and cost reduction for resource-stretched businesses and public administrations.”
VertiGIS will host its VertiGIS Konferenz 2025 in Munich (16-18 September), bringing together users and partners to explore the latest in geospatial innovation. VertiGIS will also be at INTERGEO in Frankfurt (7-9 October) in Hall 12 at Booth 0C.002, where it will showcase land management solutions alongside VertiGIS FM, VertiGIS Studio, and VertiGIS Networks.
